As the dust settles from another significant election cycle in Pennsylvania, and across our nation, we’re seeing important developments that will shape the political landscape of our Commonwealth. While some races remain too close to call, the preliminary results provide crucial insights into the path ahead for our continued work in strengthening Pennsylvania families.

Presidential and Statewide Results

In a decisive showing, President Donald Trump has secured victory in Pennsylvania with a substantial margin of 170,000 votes over Vice President Kamala Harris. He was aided in his re-election by making protecting women’s sports and fighting indoctrination in school a key issue of his campaign.

The statewide races have shown similar momentum for conservative leadership. While the U.S. Senate race between Dave McCormick and Bob Casey being called by many news outlets, Casey has not yet conceded. Dave Sunday’s election as Pennsylvania’s new Attorney General marks an important transition and return to common sense in leadership for our state’s top law enforcement office. Additionally, the re-election of both Auditor General Tim DeFoor and Treasurer Stacy Garrity ensures continued conservative oversight of our state’s fiscal responsibilities.

The makeup of our state legislature has some new faces but the balance of power remains the same: House Democrats maintain their slim majority at 102-101; Senate remains a Republican majority at 28-22.

Legislative Chamber Updates

The Pennsylvania State Senate will maintain its Republican majority, though with some notable changes. While we saw Democrat Patty Kim flip one Central PA seat, Republicans offset this with a victory in Northeast Philadelphia, where Republican challenger Joe Picozzi beat Democrat incumbent Jimmy Dillon by over 1,000 votes. Republicans will maintain a solid 28-22 majority in the chamber.

In the State House, the situation remains fluid. One race is still undecided with almost 50% of the ballots left to count in that race. Prior to the election, Democrats held a narrow 102-101 majority, and preliminary results show no districts have yet flipped in either direction.

Clear Messages from Voters

In the US senate races, candidates who took strong, principled stands on protecting women’s sports saw significant support from voters who understand the importance of acknowledging biological reality, and maintaining fair athletic competition. This aligns with national polls showing that a majority of Americans oppose policies that would allow biological males to compete in women’s sports, as well as opposing experimental medical interventions on minors.

Additionally, Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion candidates took it too far and too extreme, and results indicate voters did not buy their lies. For the first time since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, pro-abortion ballot initiatives faced defeat in multiple states, including Florida, South Dakota, and Nebraska. The Nebraska results were particularly encouraging, where voters not only rejected a pro-abortion measure but also approved a competing pro-life initiative. These results demonstrate that when candidates and causes are willing to own their positions and speak clearly about their principles, voters respond positively to messages that protect both women and the unborn.

In Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, Representative Scott Perry has retained his seat, although his opponent has not yet conceded. Despite running in a district redrawn in 2018 with a stronger base of Democratic voters, and facing a challenger who raised over $1 million more in campaign funds, Perry secured his seventh term while standing on his pro-life record. His Democrat opponent, Janelle Stelson, heavily focused on abortion scaremongering, and repeatedly attacked Perry’s pro-life record, backed by substantial out-of-state funding. Yet Perry refused to distance himself from his pro-life positions. The numbers so far demonstrate that even in a challenging district, with significantly less funding, taking a principled stand in defense of life resonates with voters and remains a winning position.

Looking Ahead: Our Continued Commitment

Regardless of the final results, the work of the PA Family Council is not just about elections. We will continue to tirelessly work for Pennsylvania families through our three-fold strategy of impact:

1. Policy Maker Engagement: As your voice in the Capitol, we will continue working closely with both newly elected and returning officials. Our team remains committed to providing thorough research and insights to help guide policy decisions that strengthen Pennsylvania families.

2. Media Presence: Trust in the media continues to erode, and platforms like X are changing how people consume the news. Regardless of these changes, our role continues as a steady, common-sense voice in defense of life, fighting to protect and strengthen marriage, and continuing to fight for everyone’s religious freedom. We will continue to ensure that traditional family values are represented clearly and effectively across all platforms.

3. Family Support: Our commitment to supporting Pennsylvania families remains unwavering. We will continue providing resources and advocacy for parents, churches, and community groups across the state, helping them navigate both personal and civic responsibilities.

As Pennsylvania’s only full-time, professionally staffed non-profit organization representing family values in the state capitol, we understand the weight of our responsibility. Through our Independence Law Center, we will continue to defend constitutional rights and protect the interests of families across the Commonwealth.

The election results demonstrate that Pennsylvanians care deeply about the common sense values we have championed since 1989. Yet our work extends far beyond election cycles. We remain steadfast in our mission.

As we look to the future, our vision remains clear: we want Pennsylvania to be a place where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished. While election results may shift and political landscapes may change, our commitment to this vision never wavers.

We pledge to continue working tirelessly in Harrisburg and across Pennsylvania, advocating for policies and principles that protect life, strengthen marriages, and help all families thrive. The path forward may present new challenges and opportunities, but with your continued support and engagement, we remain confident in our ability to make a positive difference for Pennsylvania families.
