October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month and this year Pennsylvanians have a simple and direct opportunity to express support for children with Down syndrome.

Nineteen State Senators, led by Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) have sponsored Senate Resolution 174 (SR174), which calls for the respect and protection of children with Down syndrome in the wake of the CBS News report on Iceland “eradicating” Down syndrome babies by aborting them. To show your support for SR174, click here or go to tinyurl.com/SR174.

In support of SR174, watch and share this interview: A Father’s Joy – A conversation about children blessed with Down syndrome

Even though tests (so doctors would have the right staff on hand) were negative, God told my husband He wanted to bless us with a special needs child. Then our daughter with Down Syndrome was born. She’s got our heart wrapped around her. She’s precious for sure!

I forgot to add that our daughter is smart. I tell her she’s the other half of my brain.-really!

I wrote to our representative in Ohio and urged him to fight this battle in Ohio. When I read about Iceland it made my heart sink. Also I was shocked that the Nation Down Syndrome Society will NOT take a stand on this issue. They say they don’t understand or something of that nature. IMAGINE a group that claims to help these children and their families won’t take a stand to protect them from abortion before they are born. They join the ranks of the March Of Dimes, who won’t take a stand against abortion either. I will not give any money to either organization until they speak up for the unborn babies.
