Today, the PA State House of Representatives voted 132-65 in favor of HB1948. Championed by Representatives Kathy Rapp (R-Warren), Bryan Barbin (D-Cambria/Somerset) and Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) along with the leadership of House Speaker Mike Turzai (R-Allegheny) and Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana), this bill would limit abortion to five-month of pregnancy (current law is up to 6 months) and end the barbaric procedure of dismemberment abortion.
Thank you to the thousands across Pennsylvania who used our Citizen Action Center to encourage their State Representative to support HB1948 and update our quarter-century-old abortion law.
If your State Representative voted yes, we encourage you to call and express your thanks. Here’s the roll call:
HB1948 now moves to the State Senate. For more about the legislation, click here.
This is a start. We need to go back to reasons: Rape, Incest, Life of Mother. No more abortion on demand, no more unlimited abortions, no more murder of the innocent.
So, if a child is conceived through rape or incest, it is appropriate to kill it? The mother’s health issue is a political red herring.
Thank you to all of the members of the PA House of Representatives who limited abortion to 5 months of gestation and ended dismemberment. This is a beginning. i
would like to see it limited to 20 weeks of gestation. However, the compromise is encouraging and moving in the right direction. Please continue to encourage birth over abortion by allowing private institutions to promote health services and counseling as well as adoption.
It’s a start. Five months is still too long, in my opinion. Should be considerably less. Considerably.
What ever happened to no abortion after 12 weeks? Do you know if a baby is born at 5 months it has a chance of survival? It so saddens me that abortion is legal , except when mothers life is at risk.
If a women gets rape or health problems, yes. If she just gets pregnant NO abortion. They have thing prevent this.
A baby is a baby is a baby, 5 months, 5 weeks, 5 days! Always a precious gift – never to be harmed
