As a partner with Pennsylvania Family Institute, you’re part of influencing the next generation – a recipe for stronger families.

Our involvement directly with families is rooted in our education initiative Family Choice Scholarship Program and the life-changing youth-leadership conferences City on the Hill and the PA Conference on Faith & Society. These initiatives have helped us become the premiere organization for strengthening Pennsylvania families.

These initiatives happen because of our partnership with you. Here’s more about them and specific ways you can be involved:

1. Helping Parents & Children pre-K – 12th grade: Family Choice Scholarship Program

Our scholarships – part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit – are helping parents with the ability to choose from a broad menu of educational options for their children in pre-K to 12th-grade. Pictured above is a glimpse into the gratitude shown to us by students receiving one of our scholarships. To date, we’ve been able to send out close to 4,000 scholarships.

Our Needs for the Family Choice Scholarship Program:

  1. Business donations to our General Fund: Compared to previous years, we are lacking available undesignated donations. A business can designate their donation to a specific school, which is great, but right now we are short on funds that are not specifically designated.
    1. Once approved for the tax credit, a business can receive a 75% credit for one year of giving – and up to a 90% tax credit (and up to $400,000 per tax year) for contributions in two consecutive years. And for the Pre-K program, you’re eligible to receive 100% credit up to the first $10,000 given.
    2. For more about donating into the program, visit myfamilychoice.org/businesses.
  2. Support for staffing: Beyond an application fee that covers some of the processing costs, we charge no additional fees on a family applying. Your donation to PA Family Institute helps to make this happen.

2. Engaging with High-Schoolers: City on the Hill

City on the Hill changes lives. By far the most-heard comment from students at the conclusion of the week is “life-changing.” City on the Hill combines utilizing the political process for leadership training with a positive environment for discussion, interaction and shared experiences (like Hershey Park!). This results in top-notch worldview teaching and fostering great friendships. Over 500 high-school students have now had the City on the Hill experience – now in its 15th year.

Our Needs for City on the Hill:

  1. Sponsor a Student: Every year we have interested students request scholarship assistance. The tuition cost for each student is $485 (based on early registration). With more partial or full scholarships available, we can make City on the Hill happen for more students.
  2. Run a scholarship contest in your church or school: Help a student in your church family or school by offering a scholarship to attend City on the Hill. We know of multiple churches/organizations who run a contest and encourage students to apply with a short essay.
  3. Tell a family about City on the Hill: We have available promotional posters for your church bulletin board or school hallway.

For more about City on the Hill and for applications to attend the upcoming conference on July 19-25, visit pafamily.org/city-on-the-hill.

3. Influencing the College Years: Pennsylvania Conference on Faith and Society

Pennsylvania Conference on Faith and Society

In October we embarked on an inaugural, two-day college conference held in Pittsburgh. It brought together students from the University of Pittsburgh, Grove City College, University of Pennsylvania and others for a one-of-a-kind experience. We engaged on topics like the state of marriage and its implications for religious liberty. It brought together top-professors and representatives from organizations like Alliance Defending Freedom and Students for Life of America. What was perhaps the most rewarding was the conference provided the opportunity to encounter like-minded colleagues in an effort to build a culture that respects core family values.

Our Needs for this College Conference:

  1. Become a Sponsor for the 2015 Conference: To best engage with students, we offered one-night accommodations and the event registration free of charge. Your sponsorship can help us to continue to make this possible. For more, email Conference Director Brandon McGinley at brandon@pafamily.org.

For a summary of the inaugural conference, go to pafamily.org/2014/11/conference.

Our scholarship program and youth leadership conferences help us provide opportunities for parents to see their children thrive. “We must miss no opportunities to teach the components of our theology and the passion that is behind it to our kids. This teaching task is the most important assignment God has given to us as parents.” – Dr. James Dobson

We promise to continue making opportunities available to influence the next generation in the coming year. And it’s your investment with us that will help make this promise flourish.
