Pro-life leaders, student advocates, and pregnancy resource center staff came together today at the Pennsylvania State Capitol to commemorate June as Life Month, recognizing the third anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade.
Before the event began, members of the PA Family Institutes Church Ambassador Network’s prayer team gathered to pray over Rep. Borowicz in the Capitol Rotunda, acknowledging that without God, we can do nothing.
Hosted by State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz and joined by Rep. Kathy Rapp, chair of the House Pro-Life Caucus, the event offered a clear and unified message: Pennsylvania must continue to be a place that protects life, both born and unborn.
“When the result of an abortion is the killing of an unborn child, that is not healthcare,” declared Rep. Rapp, whose leadership in the legislature has been unwavering in the defense of innocent life.
Participants included members of Students for Life, local community leaders, and representatives from pregnancy resource centers across the Commonwealth. Display tables lined the Capitol Rotunda offering education, fetal development materials, and real-life stories of hope and perseverance.
One of the most powerful moments came from a mother who shared her journey of refusing an abortion despite doctors warning her that her son, diagnosed in the womb with a severe heart condition, would have “no quality of life.”
“Too many doctors scare parents, saying they will have no quality of life. Look at this child I’m holding right here. He’s worthy of life.”
That testimony reminded attendees that the conversation around abortion is not theoretical—it’s deeply personal, often shaped by the messages women receive in their most vulnerable moments. Events like this aim to shine a light on the value and dignity of every life, regardless of circumstance or medical diagnosis.
Julia Sadik, Pennsylvania Regional Coordinator for Students for Life, spoke to the growing movement among young people to stand for the unborn.
“Standing for life is everyone’s responsibility,” she said, addressing a crowd of pro-life advocates and supporters gathered under the Capitol dome.
Also present was Jon Merwarth with the Pennsylvania Pregnancy Wellness Collaborative (PPWC), who shared about the vital work being done by Pregnancy Medical and Resource Centers across the state.
“We meet women at a vulnerable crossroad, by providing accurate information, free medical services, and ongoing support, all with compassion and without judgment. Every woman deserves to be empowered with truth and surrounded by care. That is exactly what we do,” said Merwarth.
The PPWC represents a growing network of centers committed to offering compassionate care and practical support—medical services, education, and essential resources—free of charge to women and families facing unplanned pregnancies. These centers often step in to bridge gaps in care and serve as trusted support systems in communities across the Commonwealth.
The morning event served not only as a public recognition of Life Month but as a call to action. With abortion once again a state-level issue, Pennsylvania’s future depends on lawmakers, voters, and communities choosing to support women and protect life at every stage.
The cause of life is about truth, compassion, and ensuring that Pennsylvania remains a place where every life is valued.
