The Direction of Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ Advocates and why Marriage Needs Protection Jeremiah Dys, wvgazette (21 June, 2009) -These are some of the thoughts from proponents of same-sex marriage: “‘William Eskridge of Yale Law School says he hopes same-sex “marriage” will ‘dethrone the traditional family based on blood relationships in favor of families we choose.’ Another same-sex “marriage” advocate said, ‘Legitimizing same-sex unions is just a warm-up act. Ultimately [same-sex “marriage” proponents] want to eliminate any barriers, any signposts that limit or channel the exercise of human sexuality.’ Finally, Michelangelo Signorile, another same-sex “marriage” advocate wrote: ‘[We need to] fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits, and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely … to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution.'”
Essentially, the idea or thought process that same-sex marriage brings with it is “no limits,” complete freedom. And although I myself tend to be a hippy advocate, life doesn’t work that way. People need each other to set restrictions or limits. We need to keep each other accountable. Everything that our human instincts want isn’t always exceptable. How do we decide what is exceptable and what isn’t or where to put limits and where not? Well, for some of the answers we look to our founders and the roots they left for us.
If we move the ground from underneath our feet, what happens? … Marriage is our ground, let’s not move it.
