Reports indicate the Trump Administration is considering moving marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under federal law. That decision would have sweeping consequences for families, public health, and our local PA neighborhoods.
Moving marijuana to Schedule III favors commercialized Big Marijuana over your community by offering massive tax incentives to an industry pushing addiction-for-profit with today’s high potency THC products.
We need changes here in Pennsylvania to our medical use of marijuana but rescheduling will make it worse. A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has found insufficient evidence to support most health claims about the medical benefits of cannabis and cannabinoids, highlighting how overhyped promises may drive sales despite associated risks.
What You Can Do Right Now ⬇️
- Contact President Trump directly.
- Below is an example message you can copy/paste and use the White House contact page to send a message urging him not to reschedule marijuana.
- Post on your social channels. Use your voice where others will see it. Sample message for X:
- @realDonaldTrump Don’t reschedule harmful marijuana and normalize Big Weed. Rescheduling hurts families, fuels addiction, and puts profits over public health.
- Forward this email. Send it to friends, family, and colleagues. Ask them to join you in taking action today.
Why This Matters
- Rescheduling benefits the marijuana industry — not families.
- It opens the door to massive tax breaks for marijuana companies.
- Today’s marijuana is far more potent and addictive than in past decades, and moves like rescheduling do not account for these harmful realities.
- Youth addiction, mental health crises, and ER visits are already rising.
Just as public support for marijuana is declining nationwide, rescheduling would give this addiction-for-profit industry a lifeline.

Dear President Trump and Vice President Vance,
I write as a concerned citizen, parent, and believer who cares deeply about the health of our families and the moral foundation of our nation. I respectfully urge you not to move marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III.
Scripture teaches that the government has a God-given duty to restrain harm and promote the good (Romans 13:3–4). Keeping marijuana in Schedule I reflects that responsibility. Moving it to Schedule III would do the opposite — normalizing a drug that harms minds, weakens families, and places profit above people.
The marijuana sold today bears little resemblance to the drug of past decades. Products now reach THC levels as high as 99%, compared to roughly 2% in the 1970s. Research shows these high-potency products carry addiction rates of about 30%, with serious and lasting health consequences.
Those consequences are not theoretical. Marijuana use has been linked to a 25% increase in heart-attack risk, a 42% increase in stroke risk, and a doubled risk of death from heart disease. These outcomes place real burdens on families, healthcare systems, and communities.
Most concerning is the impact on children and young adults. In states that have legalized marijuana, addiction rates among teens ages 12–17 rise by roughly 25%. Marijuana use before age 25 interferes with brain development, learning, and emotional stability. Teens struggling with marijuana addiction are far more likely to experience mental-health and behavioral problems, often with lifelong consequences.
As leaders, you are entrusted with protecting the most vulnerable, especially children. Rescheduling marijuana would benefit an addiction-for-profit industry through tax advantages and normalization, while families pay the price.
I urge you to put children first, uphold public health, and keep marijuana in Schedule I. Doing so affirms a commitment to wisdom, restraint, and the well-being of America’s families.
