State lawmakers will join with national groups to urge the Senate to pass the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, HB 972.
(HARRISBURG, PA ) – Today, PA Family will host a press conference at 2pm in the Main Capitol Rotunda urging the Senate to pass HB 972, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act.
Joining this press conference will be Dilonna Coran of Concerned Women for America, Morgan Schlesselman of Young Women for America, Kara Dansky of Women’s Declaration International, and key legislative sponsors, such as Rep. Barb Gleim, Rep. Martina White, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, and Sen. Judy Ward.
The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act defends nearly 50 years of hard-won opportunities for women gained through Title IX. Men have a distinct biological advantage over women. When women are forced to compete against men, they lose out on a fair playing field. The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, HB 972, ensures that sports are separated by biological sex, recognizing the identities don’t play sports, bodies do.
Recent polling by Spry Strategies for the Women’s Liberation Front and the American Principles Project reported nearly 75% of Pennsylvanians support protecting women’s sports by keeping it separated based on biological sex.
