Identifying the Next Steps in Stopping Pitt’s Horrific Fetal Experimentation
The PA General Assembly has approved state taxpayer funding to the University of Pittsburgh in the annual state budget, sadly without any conditions or limitations on the university’s unethical experimentation using aborted babies.
Some pro-life lawmakers in the PA General Assembly attempted to place conditions on the annual state-related university funding of Pitt due to these experiments, but the effort fell short and, thus, state funding to Pitt was approved.
This past year, Pitt’s controversial experiments garnered national attention a published study revealed that they were humanizing rats and mice with “full thickness human fetal skin” (1); scalping babies aborted halfway through pregnancy and grafting the scalps onto rodents. These barbaric experiments involved Pitt staff that are also employed at Planned Parenthood – the largest abortion business in the state – and were funded using your taxdollars (2).
Every year, the PA General Assembly approves annual appropriations of state taxpayer funding to the University of Pittsburgh and all other public state-related universities. While this experimentation was funded with federal taxdollars, some pro-life lawmakers saw it as an opportunity to limit the university’s state funding, but it fell short.
Pa Family Council wants to thank State Representative Jim Cox (R-Berks/Lancaster) for proposing an amendment to Pitt’s funding that would have made it conditional on ending their inhumane and unethical fetal experimentation.
While we are disappointed for missing out on this opportunity in the state budget, we will work with pro-life lawmakers to continue the fight and look for other ways to stop this awful practice at Pitt — and any other state-funded institution where similar activity may be taking place.
We continue to call upon our state and federal officials to fully investigate the University of Pittsburgh and its ties with Planned Parenthood’s abortion business. Additionally, we join thousands of Pennsylvanains in calling for an end to the use of tax dollars to fund experiments on aborted babies.
Pa Family Council also thanks State Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren), who chairs the House Health Committee, for holding four hearings this Spring, which included testimony about Pitt’s fetal experimentation (3). This was a great step forward in exposing the issue.
There remain many questions left unanswered by the university that must be addressed.
