City on the Hill gives young adults the foundation they need

City on the Hill (COTH) was founded by the Pennsylvania Family Institute in 2001 with a vision of training and raising up the next generation of leaders. COTH is a biblical worldview and leadership conference for young adults from ages 15-18. After a week, they will have the tools and new found confidence they need to be a light in our culture.

You probably don’t need to be told that high schoolers are being bombarded with a variety of worldviews, opinions, and messages. A low estimate is that high schoolers consume over  4,000 ads daily – that is over 4,000 different voices all vying for their attention. We live in an era that is not only defined by information overload, but young people are also being faced with increasingly difficult questions about their biblical worldviews.

How should they view human sexuality when 1 in 5 Gen Zers identify as “queer?” How should they understand the issue of abortion when Planned Parenthood spends millions of dollars to frame it as a compassionate women’s healthcare issue? What should they do when faced with the very real possibility of losing sex-based spaces, like women’s sports or bathrooms

These are just a few of the heavy questions our young adults find themselves facing – and it is precisely because of this that COTH is essential. We face each of these topics, and more, head on with leading speakers from across the country gathering to give your teen confidence to lovingly and boldly understand what the Bible has to say about each of these areas.

But head-knowledge isn’t our only goal – we also have a course helping students to become winsome speakers! They use those skills as they become “Senators” and defend legislation that they have been assigned.

Here’s some more highlights:

  • 12 Training Sessions: Topics like The Case for Life, Christians in the Public Square and Why Religious Freedom Matters.
  • A week of college dorm-life on the Lancaster Bible College campus.
  • Use of the Senate Floor and Committee Rooms of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building.
  • Worship Night and Student Talent Show.
  • Morning & Evening devotions.
  • Mid-week recreational trip.
  • Friday Awards Banquet.

As one of our alumni said, “It is a one-of-a-kind experience. Truly life-changing.” We would love to have the young adult in your life participate this year. It’s always a highlight for our team and we can’t wait for it to be a highlight for your family too!
