From the Patriot-News:
When Pennsylvania changed the law last year to allow bars to run small games of chance, the state expected to be deluged with thousands of license applicants.
So far, it’s received six. And two of those applications were incomplete.
When this legislation passed, those in support of the law said the state should expect to bring in a few million in taxes from the games before July. The Governor’s budget for this coming year anticipates the state will receive $102 million. Now it looks like that won’t be happening.
The state took a “gamble” and now the state budget may suffer because of it. Let’s not expand gambling even more by adding Keno machines to diners and taverns. Let your legislator you don’t want Keno machines added to the Lottery. Use our Citizen Action Center.
