– Corbett, Toomey Win in Statewide Races
– GOP Gains 5 Pennsylvania Seats in Congress
– State House Goes to Republican Control

Good morning! Election Day 2010 is finally in the history books, and while there are a number of races in other states still too close to call, Pennsylvania voters spoke loudly and clearly with a decisive win in the Governor’s race for Tom Corbett. The race for U.S. Senate was much tighter, with a 51% – 49% victory for Pat Toomey.

For U.S. House of Representatives, Republicans picked up five seats from the Democrats, with Reps. Dahlkemper, Carney, Kanjorski, and Murphy all going down to defeat, and the open seat vacated by Rep. Joe Sestak going to Republican Pat Meehan.

The Pennsylvania Senate remained firmly under Republican control, while the House of Representatives flipped back to the GOP, with Republicans gaining at least eight seats (with 3 needed to switch control. Notable was the defeat of Democrat House Majority Leader Todd Eachus to political newcomer Tarah Toohil in the 116th State House district race in Luzerne County.
