If you have yet to tour the Pennsylvania State Capitol building, put it on your to-do list. The amazing architecture and exquisite artwork throughout the Capitol is a sight to see. And, if you’re a Pennsylvania citizen, you own it all (well, you along with every other Pennsylvanian).
What’s even more amazing is the vast amount of Scripture references in the artwork; evidence of our rich Christian heritage. On one of the walls in the Governor’s Reception Room, you’ll find a reference to Exodus 15:16,
“By thy greatness of Thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord which thou hast purchased.”
The Lord “purchased” the whole nation of Israel in the Exodus from Egypt. Through His deliverance, God “bought” the nation; not by the death of Christ but by creating the nation.
Our Heavenly Father is the God of all nations. By His grace He formed America and blessed her with the freedoms we celebrate today.
Because of His blessings we, as Americans, should be “a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will” (Thomas Jefferson).
As we head further into 2010, the top leaders of Pennsylvania need our prayers for wisdom and guidance to do what is right for families in our state.

Governor Ed Rendell and Lt. Governor Joe Scarnati make many tough decisions on state issues that affect all Pennsylvanians.
Our representation in Washington, from U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey to the 19 U.S. Congressmen*, provide oversight on the many issues facing our state and our nation today.
(* On Monday, Congressmen John Murtha, a former Marine Corps Officer and Vietnam veteran, died of complications from surgery. Please keep his family in your prayers and be thankful for all of our veterans who have heroically served our country.)
Our commander-in-chief, President Barack Obama, is a man responsible for the leadership and direction of our country and his influence will impact many areas throughout 2010 and his time in office. As our president, he certainly is a man in need of our prayers.
Please pray for these top leaders of our state- that they may be mindful of God’s favor and glad to do His will.
