What’s Next? One First-Step Action Item Following the First-Ever Pennsylvania March for Life

What an incredible day for the first-ever Pennsylvania March for Life! Thousands from all across our Commonwealth filled the front of our State Capitol in what many elected officials and others have said was the largest rally they’ve ever seen in Harrisburg!

Pennsylvanians from every corner of the state – men and women of every age and background, many who had never attended any type of rally before, were brought together because of one unifying interest: to be a voice for the voiceless — to protect unborn babies and their moms targeted by the abortion industry in Pennsylvania. It’s hard to imagine a more noble cause!

We were grateful to have so many elected officials who stood with us in support of life, including PA House Health Committee Chair Kathy Rapp, Speaker of the PA House Bryan Cutler and Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward. We had more elected officials present than we had space on the risers on stage – a wonderful problem to have!

As I said in my rally remarks to the vibrant and diverse crowd, there is an urgent matter that is threatening unborn children and their mothers here in our state. There exists a lawsuit that is now in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court brought on by the abortion industry that is asking taxpayers to fund abortion and to invent a “right to abortion” in our longstanding Pennsylvania Constitution. This puts every current pro-life limit on abortion in jeopardy as well as any future pro-life laws.

Will Pennsylvania become like New York or Virginia and permit abortion on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy? Will you be forced to pay for someone aborting their child? We must band together to remedy what we fully expect to be an awful activist ruling in the coming months.

I encourage you to take a first action step (in what will be a long and necessary effort) and use our online alert – click here or visit pafamily.org/protectunbornlife – to ask your State Senator and State Representative to oppose any taxpayer funding of abortion, and to support constitutional amendment efforts to protect life.

There are so many people to thank who helped make this amazing event possible, but I want to make sure I express my gratitude for you. Your continued partnership in our pro-life work, supporting and participating in ongoing efforts like the Pennsylvania March for Life, is critical if we are to continue building a movement that will push aside any barriers in order to advance protections for unborn children in our state and nation.

One of the many great homemade signs at this historic and powerful Pennsylvania March for Life caught my attention, which read:

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”

May you be encouraged by the events this week in our mission to see life truly cherished – even the smallest life from the moment of conception.

God bless,
