STD Rates Increasing, Despite Easy Access to Contraception, Sex-Ed

From LifeSiteNews.com:

A new study has found increased access to “emergency contraception” increases the rates of sexually transmitted diseases, while doing nothing to reduce the number of abortions.

Christine Piette Durrance, Ph. D., analyzed county-by-county data in Washington State and found that more widespread use of the morning-after pill led “led to a statistically significant increase in STD rates (gonorrhea rates), both overall and for females.”

Contraceptives such as Plan B, or Ella, do nothing to protect a woman from sexually transmitted diseases.

Meanwhile, the researcher said that she did not find “an impact of pharmacy access on abortion or birth rates,”according to the study’s abstract.

And another new study shows NYC has the HIGHEST STD rates in the country.

CBSNews.com:

A study by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has found that large parts of the city are plagued with soaring rates for multiple STDs – including HIV/AIDS.

The study said 33 percent of all the ZIP codes in New York City were in the top quintile citywide for multiple sexually-transmitted diseases during a survey taken in 2010. Among the most severe examples is ZIP code 10474 in Hunts Point, the Bronx, where rates of hepatitis C, chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV/AIDS all ranked in the top 20 percent of all New York City ZIP codes.

There is an epidemic happening in our country. More studies are beginning to show the devastating effect of the sexuality of our culture. We must work to teach abstinence, the importance of marriage, and the value of human life. Let’s pray for a change in 2013.
