One of the world’s leading international advocates for people affected by disability, helping countless families including many in Pennsylvania, is now calling upon the Pennsylvania State Senate to pass the Down Syndrome Protection Act – House Bill 321.
Joni Eareckson Tada is the Founder and CEO of Joni and Friends, an organization which provides services to families affected by disability across the United States. They have two offices in Pennsylvania (Lancaster and Souderton) and provide Family Retreats for many Pennsylvania special-needs families. Joni and Friends/Pennsylvania also trains churches as to how to embrace people with disabilities and their families.
She recently wrote a letter to Pennsylvania Senators urging passage of the Down Syndrome Protection Act, which already passed the PA House by a 71% majority and would add a diagnosis of possible Down syndrome to the state’s current list of reasons why you cannot obtain an abortion:
“Please work toward the passage of the Down Syndrome Protection Act, as it will safeguard the lives of untold numbers of children with this particular disability. We want a society which safeguards its most vulnerable populations; a society that truly cares about those who are weak.”
