IGNITE THE EMBERS

Dec 20, 2010 | 0 comments

Next month, a new, pro-life, pro-family Governor will take the helm here in Harrisburg. Joining him at the Capitol will be strong pro-life, pro-family majorities in the House and Senate, with leaders who are committed to the sanctity of life, the protection of marriage, and the vital role of the family as the building block of society.

What an opportunity! And what a tragedy it would be if you and I don’t make the most of it. And that’s why I’m writing to you today.

The positive opportunities at the Capitol are the result of what I’ll call a “moment”: Election Day, 2010. Yes, a lot of prayers, hard work, and financial support were needed to bring that moment about. Thanks to all who partnered with us to help make it happen.

But that moment has only created the potential for positive changes. What’s needed now is for all of us to join together, roll up our sleeves, and ignite the embers of that moment into a movement of lasting cultural change. You and I cannot let this incredible opportunity slip away. We must act now.

In an email I sent out a few weeks ago, I sought input on our long-term plan to “Ignite” an enduring cultural transformation across Pennsylvania. We want to ensure that Pennsylvania’s pro-family citizens don’t “go home” thinking election results alone will stop those who undermine the timeless values you and I share. Our plan is designed to take back lost ground in the areas of life, liberty, marriage, and the family.

Click here to see a summary of our “Ignite” plan. As you’ll see, the plan focuses on our work in critical areas where cultural-defining battles are fought. It strategically focuses on the areas of overlap in order to create synergy and, ultimately, maximize the impact of PFC – PFI’s pro-family work. Will you take a few minutes to read through the plan?

Before you do, though, I want to share with you a real blessing.

A small group of donors has joined together to offer a matching challenge for the Ignite plan. The Ignite plan calls for raising an additional $50,000 before the end of the year.
To help reach that goal, these donors have offered to match every online contribution and monthly pledge PFI receives before December 31st — up to $7,500!

That means every online donation or pledge made to FPC before December 31st will be automatically doubled until the match is met. Your $25 contribution is actually $50. Your $50 contribution becomes $100! Will you consider sending a contribution today? I hope you will. If you’d like, you can make your contribution online right now at www.pafamily.org/ignite.php

I hope you can help Pennsylvania Family Institute and Council capitalize on this opportunity by sending a contribution today. Ignite may well be the most important plan we’ve ever undertaken. And the matching gift is an incredible opportunity to really get it off to a fast start. And that’s important.

You and I both know the people and organizations who work to undermine the timeless values we share are not going to “go home” just because they had a bad election. History tells us bad elections only serve to motivate them – and not just for the next election. Those who work against the principles PFC and PFI advocates are likely to become even more aggressive in training new leaders, pushing radical legislation, preparing voter education programs, and much more. We’ve seen it already from their emails.

Simply put, if you and I don’t start immediately working to build on the momentum of the 2010 elections, it won’t be long until we end up right back where we started.

And, like you, I want to take back ground we’ve lost over the years. I don’t want to be forced – like we were the last few years – to play defense and hope to simply minimize our losses in areas like life, liberty, marriage and family.
Ignite will play a big role in making sure that doesn’t happen.

So please, take a few minutes to review the plan I’ve enclosed for you and prayerfully consider a year-end gift of $25 or even $50 or more to Pennsylvania Family Council or Pennsylvania Family Institute. And remember, if you send that gift before December 31st, it will be doubled.

Thanks again for your loyal support. I’m excited about the future and look forward to working with you to ignite an enduring cultural transformation in Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

Michael Geer, President
