Recently Michael Geer sent out an email regarding what’s happening with Pennsylvania politics. He referenced a comment made by a recent college graduate he helped find an internship for at the Capitol. After just a few weeks, the graduate admitted the experience so far has been very discouraging.
The graduate described the Pennsylvania Capitol as being “a very dark place.”
Whether it’s the Bonusgate scandal, the threat of bankruptcy in the upcoming budget or the range of issues facing our state, there are a lot of “dark” things happening in Pennsylvania.
We need to be reminded, especially during dark times, about the glory of God. Ezekiel 44:4, which is written on the wall of the Pennsylvania Senate Chamber of our Capitol, says:
“I looked, and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house.”
Dr. Del Tackett, in his lesson on the American Experiment of The Truth Project, describes the concept of light versus darkness when looking at our culture:
“Darkness does not overtake light, but light overtakes darkness. And if there is darkness spreading through the land, guess what? It is not because somebody went out into the middle of Kansas and opened up a box of darkness. No, if darkness is spreading across the land, guess what? It’s because somebody’s hiding the light. Or worse than that, Jesus is removing the lampstand from its place.”
Fifty Senators, each representing a portion of Pennsylvania’s citizens, debate important legislation on a daily basis at the Capitol; “a very dark place.”
With so much “darkness” to battle in Pennsylvania politics, please pray for light to be found in Harrisburg. Pray that the glory of the Lord will fill the State Senate. Pray for wisdom in the leadership they provide to our state. Pray for the safety of their marriages, of their families and for traveling to and from the state capitol.

Please pray that God will not to remove the lampstand from its place and that Pennsylvania, and America, remain a God-fearing state and nation and a beacon of freedom and hope.
Another verse found in the Senate Chamber is 1 Cor. 6:20:
“Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
May God be glorified in the Pennsylvania State Senate.
