Cecile Richards In Harrisburg Today Signals Urgency to Call Your State Representative

Planned Parenthood is pulling out all the stops in order to promote their extreme abortion agenda in Pennsylvania. The leader of the nation’s largest abortion business is in Harrisburg today ahead of an expected vote in the PA House of Representatives on HB 1948 – which would end late-term and dismemberment abortions in our state.

Pennsylvania law currently allows abortion up to 24 weeks, 6 days in utero. The majority of babies born at that time are able to survive – the head of Penn State Hershey’s NICU says babies at 24 weeks have a 60-65% survival rate, jumping to 80-85% at 25 weeks.

To reflect this truth in our laws by limiting abortion to 20 weeks has been labeled by Planned Parenthood as extreme, vicious and dangerous.

The majority of Americans agree – late-term abortion should not be legal, which is why 18 states have passed legislation to end that practice and at least 10 others are considering it – including Pennsylvania. Kirsten Powers calls late-term abortion “infanticide“. Even the attorney that defended Kermit Gosnell believes abortion should be limited well before 24 weeks:

“I’ve come out of this case realizing that 24 weeks is a bad determiner. It should be more like 16, 17 weeks. That would be a far better thing because the babies would not be even arguably viable at that point in time and I think the law should be changed to that.”

Pennsylvania, of all places, should learn from Gosnell. We know that elective, late-term abortion is wrong and unnecessary.

A vote is expected today on HB 1948 – please contact your State Representative to vote yes on HB 1948.
