Pennsylvania legislator seeks to encroach on religious freedom

State Rep. Babette Josephs, D-Philadelphia, has introduced a bill, HB 2691, to ban sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE) through counseling. If passed, the bill would make it illegal for counselors in Pennsylvania to help minors with unwanted same-sex attractions.

The bill, if passed, would encroach on both civil and religious liberties. Advancing this type of policy to squash the ability of counselors who want to help people who want to get out of a lifestyle that’s been destructive for them and their families is wrong.

Rep. Josephs is leaving the House at the end of this year.
